Job Summary



We are looking for an experienced and highly organized

Dealership Controller

to lead the financial operations of our busy dealership. This dealership is part of an exciting acquisition for the Harris Auto Group. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dealership accounting, exceptional attention to detail, and a deep understanding of dealership financial processes. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial statements, maintaining compliance with industry and regulatory standards, and supporting leadership with insights that drive profitability and operational excellence.

Key Duties



Oversee all dealership accounting functions including AP, AR, payroll, billing, inventory accounting, and the general ledger across multiple departments. Prepare, review, and reconcile monthly dealership financial statements, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with both Company policies and manufacturer (OEM) requirements. Manage schedule reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and ensure all accounts remain current and accurate. Monitor and analyze parts, service, and sales gross, working closely with department managers to identify trends and drive improvement. Oversee daily cash management, bank reconciliations, deposit controls, and flooring audits. Develop, support, and monitor annual budgets and monthly forecasts, providing actionable financial insights to management. Ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing, including flat-rate technician pay plans and commission structures. Maintain dealership compliance, including internal controls, audit preparation, tax filings, and regulatory reporting. Use dealership management systems (DMS) such as PBS, CDK, Reynolds, as well as Excel and accounting platforms. Partner with the General Manager and Fixed & Variable Operations leadership to support financial strategies, cost control, and business growth initiatives.

Requirements



Proven experience as a Dealership Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Automotive Accountant. Strong proficiency with dealership management systems (PBS, CDK, Reynolds) and advanced Excel skills. Comprehensive understanding of dealership accounting procedures, and manufacturer financial requirements. Hands-on experience managing AP/AR, payroll, reconciliations, inventory accounting, and financial statement preparation. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate findings clearly to management. Excellent organization, accuracy, and attention to detail in a fast-paced dealership environment. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation preferred but not required.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
