Our South end client requires a Controller with experience in residential construction. This role'Microsoft duties will require planning and budgeting in the development of new projects. You will oversee all financial reporting and managing cash flow. You will be heavily involved in project management and financing with lenders. You will be responsible for month end reporting. You will provide analysis on all budgets and variances as well as significant costing.
Your responsibilities in this role
- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis
- Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation
- Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation
- Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis
- Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
- Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports
- Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
- Inspect deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations
- Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
- Complete tasks beyond formal job responsibilities
- Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time
Requirements
- CPA required
- Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
- Adeptness in Construction Cost
- Loan agreements experience preferred
- Solid understanding of construction project accounting
- Deep understanding of Financing Agreements
- General familiarity with forecasting
- Demonstrated knowledge of budgeting
- Project accounting experience
- Cash forecasting experience
- Strong communication and social skills
- Prior experience in a Big 4 public accounting environment is highly valued
- Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required
- Strong analytical capabilities and discernment
- Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines
- Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
- Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment.
