We are looking for a dedicated Controller to lead and oversee financial operations within our organization based in Toronto, Ontario. In this role, you will provide strategic guidance to the executive team and Board of Directors while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial reporting and processes. This position requires a strong leader who can drive budgeting, forecasting, and audit activities while fostering collaboration within the accounting team and with external stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
xc2xb7 Lead the development and execution of financial strategies, providing insight to the executive leadership team and the Board of Directors on financial performance
xc2xb7 Oversee accounts payables and receivables - make sure coding of general ledger accounts are accurate.
xc2xb7 Authorize all invoices and expense reports
xc2xb7 Reconcile General Ledger accounts with the help of the finance team
xc2xb7 Reconciliation of RRSP contributions to general ledger
xc2xb7 Ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of financial reporting for both
xc2xb7 Supervise and mentor the accounting team to ensure adherence to regulatory frameworks
xc2xb7 Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and other financial reports
xc2xb7 Lead the team in the preparation of departmental budgets, finalize to a one-page consolidated budget format
xc2xb7 Build strong relationships with external auditors, RRSP advisors, Health and benefit advisers and other advisors to enhance the credibility and reliability of financial operations
xc2xb7 Prepare forecasts, and financial projections, driving alignment with business strategy
xc2xb7 Prepare capital assets schedule
xc2xb7 Prepare investment entry from monthly investment statements
xc2xb7 Review with departments cost controls to adhere to their individual department budgets
xc2xb7 Ensure business objectives are met
xc2xb7 Serve as a key financial liaison between senior management, and the Board of Directors
xc2xb7 Presents financial results, and other financial matters to management, Treasurer and Board of Directors
xc2xb7 Implement and monitor internal controls, policies, and procedures to mitigate financial risk and ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including tax, legal, and regulatory requirements
xc2xb7 Manage internal and external audits and prepare the necessary supporting schedules
xc2xb7 Diploma or Degree in Accounting & Finance
xc2xb7 Minimum 10 years of finance and accounting experience
