Based in the Toronto, Ontario area, this opening for a Controller is a permanent position. To succeed in this role, you will need to plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. This position is for candidates who can effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. Your responsibilities

- Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

- Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

- Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

- Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

- Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection

- Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation

- Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis

- Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

- Ensure client satisfaction by reviewing deliverables of self and team

- Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed

- CPA designation is required.

- Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

- Experience with Sage ERP software is required.

- 8-10 years of experience in accounting.

- Experience with Accounting Control

- Strong familiarity with Account Resolution

- Expertise in account reconciliation

- Solid understanding of account analysis

- Account Setup experience

- Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

- Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems

- Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required

- Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills

- Able to meet business deadlines

- Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic environment
