Job Description

Position: Controller
Location: Lachine
Salary: $100,000 to $120,000 per year

Our client, a growing and dynamic company located in Lachine, invites a Controller to join their administration department team.

As a Divisional Controller, you are responsible for the financial management of a division through the administration of accounting systems, preparation of reports, and maintenance of accounting records.

You must be proactive and provide the main support to the Vice President and another executive team. Your main challenge will be to ensure the accuracy and implementation of processes and streamlining automated reports.

Reporting directly to the VP of finance, your responsibilities, among others, will be to:

- Provide support to the president in the accomplishment of all his responsibilities
- Recommend and participate in the implementation of improvement measures where necessary (this includes being a key participant in computer system troubleshooting, improvements and conversions)
- Review the monthly and annual financial statements and supporting schedules to be submitted to the corporate accounting team
- Control accuracy of inventory volume and costing
- Prepare payables, receivables and reporting
- Provide meaningful analysis of both direct and indirect production costs to management
- Provide analysis of regular operating costs on a monthly basis
- Provide a variety of ad hoc financial reports, as requested
- Do government filings, as required
- Handle year-end audit

Qualification Criteria:

- Accounting designation such as a CA or CMA and at least 5 years of experience in a similar role; experience in a manufacturing environment is required
- Must be attentive to details, have a strong ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must have an analytical mind, be a self-starter and have the ability to function with minimal supervision
- Must have a hands-on approach, autonomy, diplomacy, tenacity, rigour, and flexibility
- Must be comfortable using computer systems and quickly become familiar with the software in use in the organization
- Must be fluently bilingual in French and English - English reporting
