About the Role
AtlantiCann Medical Inc. (AMI) is currently seeking a Controller to lead financial operations for the entirety of our cannabis portfolio ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. Based in Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia, the Controller will work closely with operations to support business performance and drive financial accountability.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
Lead and manage financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
Oversee month end and year end closing processes, including account reconciliations and accruals
Oversee and support the accounts payable and accounts receivable process
Responsible for treasury management, daily and weekly cash reporting and reconciliations
Responsible for general ledger management and completeness and accuracy of accounting entries
Develop and maintain internal controls, ensuring compliance with regulations
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with IFRS and ASPE
Experience with monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting, including review and preparation of financial results and supporting data and analysis
Ability to write comprehensive reports and maintain proper records
Experience in cost accounting and inventory management is an asset, overseeing and managing the inventory accounting process, including inventory valuation, cost analysis and reconciliations to ensure accurate and timely reporting
Review and maintain cost accounting procedures to track and allocate costs, analyze variances and support pricing decisions and margin analysis
Collaborate with operations and AMI's parent company to support business performance, finance initiatives and effective reporting
Responsible for tax filings and financial audits, including HST/GST remittances, Excise Duty calculations and remittances and monthly remittances of CTLS.
Technical Expertise
Utilize and maintain Sage 50 (Simply Accounting) software.
Demonstrate advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
Operate various inventory software programs and adapt to new systems as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
CPA designation required
5+ years in accounting management positions.
Understanding of manufacturing and production required.
Knowledge of GAAP and cannabis-specific financial regulations preferred
Experience in cost accounting and inventory management is required.
ERP implementation experience is a strong asset.
Strong financial, analytical, and business acumen skills.
Exceptional communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
Effective planning and organizational abilities, with high attention to detail.
Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a highly regulated and evolving environment.
High level of discretion in handling confidential information.
English proficiency required
Must have valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from work location
Physical & Environmental Requirements
