We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Controller to lead our financial operations and ensure the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of our financial reporting. Duties
Oversee all aspects of accounting operations, including general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management.
Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and other regulatory requirements relevant to nonprofit and governmental accounting.
Lead the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and analyses for internal stakeholders and external regulators.
Manage balance sheet reconciliation processes to verify account accuracy and integrity through detailed account analysis and double-entry bookkeeping practices.
Conduct regular account reconciliation activities across various ledgers using accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
Develop and implement robust internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
Coordinate external audits by providing documentation, explanations, and support for audit inquiries.
Drive budgeting processes by preparing forecasts, analyzing variances, and supporting strategic financial planning initiatives.
Monitor cash flow to optimize liquidity management while maintaining accurate records of all transactions.
Lead regulatory reporting efforts ensuring timely submission of required filings with government agencies.
Manage technical accounting issues related to nonprofit structures or governmental funding streams, ensuring proper application of accounting standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on financial analysis projects that support organizational growth and operational efficiency.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving financial regulations, industry best practices, and emerging technologies in financial management.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
Extensive experience in corporate accounting with a strong understanding of GAAP; experience with IFRS is a plus.
Proven expertise in nonprofit or governmental accounting environments is highly desirable.
Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements and internal control frameworks.
Hands-on experience with accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or equivalent platforms.
Strong knowledge of financial concepts including double-entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and general ledger management.
Demonstrated ability in financial report writing and analysis for diverse audiences.
Experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and cash flow forecasting.
Excellent analytical skills coupled with strong attention to detail; ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
