Job Description

We are a growing construction company seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to oversee our financial operations and support our continued growth. The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, hands-on experience in the construction industry, and proven leadership in managing full-cycle accounting. This is a critical role that requires exceptional attention to detail, advanced knowledge of QuickBooks Online (QBO), and the ability to manage complex intercompany and partnership transactions.

Key Responsibilities



Oversee and manage all aspects of full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end processes. Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with ASPE. Manage and track intercompany transactions, joint ventures, and partnership accounting specific to the construction industry. Administer GST/HST returns and ensure compliance with all federal and provincial tax filings. Provide financial insight and support to senior management for decision-making and project evaluation. Develop, document, and enforce internal controls, policies, and procedures. Lead, mentor, and support the accounting team, fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability. Collaborate with project managers to track budgets, job costing, and profitability analysis. Liaise with external CPA, tax advisors, and financial institutions.

Qualifications



Minimum 4-5 years' experience as a Controller, preferably in the construction industry. CPA designation (or in progress) is considered a strong asset. Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO), including intercompany transactions . Strong knowledge of construction accounting, including joint ventures, partnerships, and project/job costing. Demonstrated expertise in full-cycle accounting and GST/HST compliance. Excellent attention to detail with strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, growing company. Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
