We are seeking a

hands-on Controller / Accounting Manager

who will own the entire accounting function and work

side-by-side with the CEO

. This is a foundational role for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, building systems, and contributing meaningfully to strategic decisions -- not just closing the books.

You will be the

sole accounting professional

in the organization initially, responsible for both day-to-day accounting and higher-level financial analysis, with the opportunity to build and lead a team as the company grows.

Key Responsibilities



Day-to-Day Accounting & Financial Operations



Manage full-cycle accounting using

QuickBooks

Handle

Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable

Process

payroll for 3 employees

(no current payroll system in place) Perform

monthly close

and

year-end preparation

Maintain accurate general ledger and supporting schedules File

HST returns

and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements Coordinate

corporate tax preparation

with external accountants

Construction & Real Estate Accounting



Manage

job costing

for construction projects Track

project budgets vs. actuals

Develop and maintain

Class A/B/C/D construction budgets and cost estimates

Prepare financial information to support

future lender draws and reporting

(as required)

Financial Analysis & Planning



Prepare

cash flow forecasts

Build

project feasibility analyses and proformas

Conduct

scenario modeling

to support investment and development decisions Provide clear financial insights to support long-term strategic planning

Systems, Controls & Process Improvement



Improve and document

internal accounting controls

Identify opportunities to enhance or replace accounting systems and workflows Recommend and help implement new tools, processes, and best practices as the business evolves

Leadership & Strategic Contribution



Work

hand-in-hand with the CEO

, with frequent interaction and collaboration Participate in strategic discussions and decision-making As the company grows,

hire and lead additional accounting staff


Qualifications & Experience



Minimum

5 years of experience as a Controller in construction and/or real estate accounting

Strong hands-on experience with

full-cycle accounting

Comfortable working in a

small, entrepreneurial, fast-moving environment

Experience with project-based accounting and job costing Strong analytical and financial modeling skills CPA designation

not required

High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail

Pay: $80,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
