Job Description


Paramount Services Ltd. and its related businesses requires an experienced financial professional to fill the role of Controller. The individual filling this role will be an important part of the management team helping form the direction of Paramount operations for the future! As part of the management team, aside from your technical skill and experience, you need to be down to earth and respectful of others, able to connect with, manage, direct and motivate people you work with!

Essential Function:

The Controller will direct and oversee the financial reporting activities of Paramount Services, and create appropriate forecasts based on planned information and actions to enhance planning for future growth.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversees Finance department, budget preparation, and accounting functions.
  • Works with other department heads to monitor each department and make recommendations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Directs the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.
  • Oversees, implement and ensure accurate and timely general ledger preparation & analysis, invoicing, A/R collection, A/P processing, data collection & analysis
  • Compares sales and profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; makes or oversees any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets.
  • Reviews planning process and suggests improvements to current methods.
  • Analyzes operations to identify areas in need of improvement or reorganization.
  • Plans for and ensures appropriate training and implementation of required electronic systems corporate wide including all Service Techs.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong practical accounting knowledge.
  • Strong management and supervisory skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in database and accounting computer application systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in implementing and / or working with a perpetual inventory system
  • Able to critically assess, evaluate and develop the skill set of team members.
Education and Experience:
  • Canadian CPA designation (CA, CMA, CGA) preferred with at least 2 years experience in public practice\xe2\x80\x9d.
  • Minimum of two years of progressive experience in an increasingly responsible financial management role.
