Controller, Finance (Calgary) \xe2\x80\x93 Permanent, Full Time
SkyFire Energy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a financial Controller. The Controller plays a crucial role in the strategic financial management of our organization. This individual will be responsible for overseeing and reporting on financial activities, including compliance with regulations, while providing financial guidance to support the company\xe2\x80\x99s growth and profitability.
Primary Duties include:

• Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous improvement and professional development
• Provide high level bookkeeping oversight
• Develop, manage and maintain internal controls and evolve processes to support the company\xe2\x80\x99s overall goals and objectives, and to enhance efficiencies
• Evaluate and mitigate financial risks, implementing appropriate controls and procedures
• Manage financial reporting, including the preparation of financial statements, management reports and analysis of financial performance
• Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, laws and reporting requirements
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth and make recommendations to management

• Research & assist with company access to available grants/funding/tax incentives, etc. where applicable
• Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and changes in accounting and financial regulations
• Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including financial institutions, accounting firms and regulatory bodies
• Support financial planning and budgeting process, including forecasting, cash flow management and financial analysis

Education and Experience requirements

• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field. MBA or CPA designation is highly preferred
• Proven experience as a Controller or similar leadership position at a complex construction organization
• Strong financial acumen and a deep understanding of financial preparation, analysis and reporting
• Extensive knowledge of accounting principles under ASPE, financial regulations and compliance standards
• Demonstrated experience in accounting processes, planning & execution
• Minimum of 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience exhibiting excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high performing finance team
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to effectively communicate financial results to stakeholders
• Advanced proficiency in financial software, specifically Quickbooks Online Advanced, as well as other softwares like Google Suite and Google Sheets
• Ability to thrive in a fast paced, rapidly growing, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
