Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on, results-driven Controller to join our well established group in the restaurant industry based in Dartmouth, NS. This is a fantastic operational finance role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and who takes pride in having a direct impact on financial and business success.
Key Responsibilities for the Job:

• Oversee all accounting operations including accounts payable, inventory, payroll, and bank/credit card reconciliations

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports * Ensure compliance with CRA requirements, including HST, payroll, and corporate tax filings

• Prepare and review POS system reports for daily operations
• Process and reconcile payroll deductions, including group benefits
• Review vendor invoices against purchase orders/price lists; resolve discrepancies with suppliers
• Organize and maintain vendor files, invoices, and statements; assist with cheque preparation and mailings
• Track and allocate VISA/MC purchases, including separating rental property expenses

Experience & Attributes for Success:

• Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
• Strong, hands-on accounting experience, previous experience in hospitality or food service is preferred
• Knowledge of Canadian accounting standards, payroll, and tax compliance
• Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Xero) and Excel
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with operations staff and ownership
• Detail-oriented and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
