Position Overview:
The Controller, reporting to the CFO, will oversee all financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance with Canadian accounting standards, and effective internal controls. This role is critical in supporting strategic decision-making and safeguarding against risks in commodity pricing, inventory management, and logistics.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the financial reporting process, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements
Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Oversee internal controls and ensure compliance with CRA and other regulatory agencies
Supervise the accounting and administration team and provide mentorship
Partner with operations to monitor commodity inventory/contract valuation and hedging activities
Liaise with auditors, banks, and external stakeholders
Implement process improvements and ERP system enhancements
Qualifications:
5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, preferably in agriculture or commodities
CPA designation or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration considered an asset.
Strong knowledge of ASPE
Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
