Job Description

Boss is a major manufacturer, wholesaler, and distributor of premium industrial and commercial lubricant products, supplying customers throughout Central and Western Canada. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Controller to manage financial reporting & reconciliation, strengthen financial controls, and improve processes that drive efficiency and accuracy across the organization.



SCOPE

The Controller is responsible for overseeing Boss Lubricants accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and strong financial controls. This role supports the Senior Management team with financial analysis, reconciliations, and operational insights, while also providing hands-on support for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and related bookkeeping.



RESPONSIBILITY

1. Financial Reporting & Reconciliation

1. Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reconciliations.

2. Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.

3. Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure proper accounting treatment of transactions.

2. Regulatory & Compliance

1. Prepare and file required regulatory and compliance reports, including GST/HST/PST, payroll remittances, and other government filings.

2. Ensure compliance with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) requirements and provincial regulations.

3. Support year-end reviews, audits and respond to auditor requests.

3. Financial Analysis

1. Conduct cost analysis to identify variances, inefficiencies, and opportunities for cost savings.



2. Perform trend analysis related to:



1. Sales performance

2. Inventory levels, turnover, and valuation

3. Provide actionable insights and reporting to management.

4. Operational Accounting and Payroll Support

1. Support Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes, including review, reconciliation, and issue resolution.

2. Provide payroll support, ensuring accurate recording, reconciliation, and compliance with payroll-related requirements.

3. Manage bookkeeping and financial reporting for related or affiliated entities, including intercompany transactions and reconciliations.

5. Process Improvement & Controls

1. Maintain and improve accounting procedures and internal controls.

2. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.

3. Support budgeting and forecasting activities as needed.
