Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Structures Canada the Controller will support establishing and achieving strategic business objectives as a member of the Structures senior leadership team. The Controller is responsible for all financial functions and is focused on planning, risk management, reporting, developing and enforcing the organization\'s accounting practices, maintaining fiscal records, and preparing final reports. What You Get to Do:

  • Be a champion in inspiring and engaging employees to drive operational excellence, innovation, and efficiency.
  • Work closely with AP, AR, and General Accounting teams in guiding the finance team in Canada through month-end, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles.
  • Research and provide recommendations for appropriate IFRS treatments of unique or complicated transactions as they arise.
  • Review monthly financial results against forecasts and KPIs for accuracy and completeness.
  • Review various partnerships, joint venture financial statements, and corporate tax returns.
  • Formulate and enforce accounting policies and procedures that create financial stewardship and safeguard company assets.
  • Ensure the integrity of financial information by continuously reviewing internal controls and implementing new ones as required.
  • Create, test, and train the business in the use of new financial reporting tools.
  • Lead system improvement initiatives for Oracle ERP.
  • Oversee the consolidation of the monthly earnings and cash forecasts.
  • Develop and lead the preparation of the annual business plan to identify related risks and opportunities.
  • Play an active role in operations and management meetings and present various financial metrics to senior executives.
  • Ensure the business fulfills its financial reporting and internal control audit requirements on time.
  • Actively participate in major project reviews. Ensure proper financial support is provided through the project life cycle and assist in developing mitigation plans to address financial risks.
  • Works closely with senior managers of each business unit on improving KPIs, assisting with ad-hoc queries, and providing timely reporting.
Who You Are:
  • 10+ years of related accounting experience including financial reporting and working with various ERP tools; public practice experience is a requirement.
  • Undergraduate degree in Commerce or Business.
  • Professional Accounting Designation, e.g., CPA is preferred.
  • Possess an understanding of IFRS.
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud is an asset.
  • A natural leader who is a believer in producing results with accuracy and on time.
  • A self-starter with a strong work ethic and excellent analytical, innovative, and problem-solving skills.
  • A strong customer focus by responding to leaders, direct reports, auditors, and operations in a professional, timely manner with the right information.
