Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, the Controller, located at Head Office in Burlington, will play a key role in closely monitoring the company's financial health. The role is primarily responsible for financial management, reporting and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, taxation and compliance, cash flow management, and accounts payable, ensuring that all ongoing accounting activities are done according to management expectations.

Essential Functions
Team Leadership
Supervise and mentor the AP team and a Project Accountant.
Provide guidance and support in resolving financial issues.
Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Financial Management & Financial Process Design
Provide insightful, and actionable, reporting - Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for multiple entities.
Seek out, propose, and implement agreed upon process improvements to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization overall
Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy of financial data.
Develop and maintain financial budgets.
Reporting and Analysis
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management.
Lead the Project Accountant through monthly construction financing draws and co-ordinate with cost consultants for various projects, as applicable.
Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support operational and strategic decision-making.
Monitor and report on key financial metrics and indicators.
Prepare ad-hoc financial reports as required.
Taxation and Compliance
Prepare/Review/Approve monthly and quarterly HST filings.
Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors for annual reviews, audits and tax filings.
Stay updated on relevant accounting standards, industry regulations, and best practices.
Budgeting and Forecasting
Collaborate with department heads to develop and manage annual budgets.
Monitor and report on budget variances, identifying areas of concern and suggesting corrective actions.
Cash Flow Management
Manage cash flow, including monitoring cash inflows and outflows.
Prepare cash flow forecasts and projections.
Who You Are

Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation is preferred.
10+ years experience in progressively responsible financial leadership roles in the property management industry is required.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with the ability to work independently on multiple projects.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, financial analysis, and reporting.
Excellent MS Excel skills, and financial property management software experience required. Experience with Yardi is a strong asset.
