We are seeking a self-motivated individual to be engaged in all aspects of monthly and annual financial reporting for a Retirement Residence situated in Bolton, Ontario. The individual should have preparation and analytical skills commensurate with all daily accounting operations, month end and annual financial statement reporting, and possess the ability to work with our Management Team to assist in the operations of the Residence and perform all financial aspects generally carried out by a Director of Operations.
Educational and Previous Work Experience Requirements:
Must have a recognized accounting degree from a Canadian university or community college.
A minimum of three years accounting experience commensurate with the fulfillment of the duties as outlined below.
Duties
:
Manage all monthly and annual accounting requirements including:
Preparation of monthly billings ensuring all billable events are billed in the period completed, receivable collections generally through EFTs, A/R management, recording accounts payable and accrued liabilities ensuring matching to period revenues, general ledger management, bank reconciliations, etc.
Preparation of accurate and timely monthly and annual financial statements.
Manage payroll activities, providing accurate and timely information flow to third party payroll provider.
Lead in the preparation of annual budget.
Preparation of monthly analyses identifying variances between budgeted and actual results.
Analyze variances to budget to determine cause, suggesting areas for operational improvement.
Collaborating with the Management Team identifying and putting in place procedures and operational changes designed to rectify variances to budget where required.
Preparation of monthly forecasts considering on-going changes to leasing and operational activities and reporting same to ownership.
Preparation of accurate and timely monthly and annual financial statements.
Preparation of cash flow forecasts ensuring the availability of sufficient funds to manage all cash requirements of the operation and to determination monthly cash distribution to ownership.
Prepare working papers to aid in the preparation of annual tax reporting.
Ensuring financial compliance with regulatory and tax authorities.
Preparation of annual financial reporting to residents.
Skills and Personal Attributes:
Knowledge of YARDI software would be an asset, but not required. Training will be provided to the successful candidate.
Passion with working with Seniors.
