Job Description

We are seeking a Controller level accounting professional to oversee the full cycle of accounting, financial planning, tax planning, compliance and internal controls for our business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:



Although these are defined as primary responsibilities, we recognize that ad hoc projects may come up and so we're looking for a collaborative and results-driven individual who wants to join our dynamic team and also willing to do what it takes to get the job done

Prepare month-end processes including financial statement and reports in accordance with internal deadlines and ownership requirements. Review and complete bank and credit card reconciliations, and journal entry postings Reconcile inter-company accounts by transferring charges and transactions between IMS Group companies Ensure compliance and timely filings for GST, PST, WCB, EHT, payroll, and corporate income tax requirements. Oversee budgeting processes, ensuring budgets are prepared accurately and aligned with organizational goals. Prepare and review monthly and annual cash flow forecasts. Prepare year-end working papers, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for external accountants to complete corporate income tax returns. Manage the fixed asset register, including recording of additions and disposals, and calculating depreciation. Provide analysis and due diligence support to evaluate business opportunities. Provide ongoing mentorship and cross-training for accounting and administrative staff. Support management with financial analysis, strategic advice, and reporting needs

EXPECTED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:



Professional accounting designation (CPA) preferred, or equivalent experience in corporate accounting, tax planning, and systems implementation. Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards, corporate tax, and personal/property tax compliance. Skilled in risk management, financial analysis, and compliance monitoring. Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks) and ERP systems. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with multiple levels of stakeholders.
