Young-Davidson

is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada's largest underground gold mines. It is located near the town of Matachewan centrally located between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury, Ontario. The 2020 completion of a highly automated, lower mine expansion has resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production and generating strong free cash flow. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos' foundation for growth for many years to come. Reporting to the Superintendent, Mine Operations, the Supervisor, Control Room will continually monitor, and regularly report on, the progress of underground mining activities during a shift and proactively identify potential deviations from the shift schedule.



The Supervisor, Control Room works closely with the Supervisors, Mine Operations, communicating effectively during each shift to ensure they are aware of current progress, deviations, potential issues, incidents, etc. and works to assist them in taking actions to address any concerns.



The Supervisor, Control Room is also accountable for the regular and timely collection and dissemination of data regarding production, issues and actions, and equipment status during the shift. This includes the timely and accurate production of end of shift reports for use in shift handover, daily planning, and daily reporting.


Primary Responsibilities:




Support mine emergency procedures as required; Ensure safety practices and procedures are maintained and followed in order to minimize risks associated with the underground working environment, and that compliance obligations are met; Gather and disseminate regular updates on production performance during each shift, including real and / or potential significant issues affecting performance. Works proactively with supervisors to identify solutions and commence action to resolve issues; Monitor the mining sequence and activities to ensure ore is being drilled, loaded, blasted, mined, hauled and stockpiled as scheduled and in the correct way to achieve set daily production targets; Ensure maintenance schedule objectives, including refueling of equipment, are integrated into the planning of operators' break times to ensure equipment down time is kept to a minimum; Monitor the availability and location of all key equipment during the shift and confirm at the end of shift. Maintain the equipment check list and communicate where necessary with maintenance personnel and supervisors; Monitor and ensure communication with all underground personnel to ensure all activities are carried out in a safe manner, risk is minimized, mining sequence is adhered to; and Comply with all reasonable and lawful instructions that are consistent with your contract of employment.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:




A minimum of five (5) years' experience in an underground mining operation; Excellent knowledge of all major underground mining activities (drilling, loading, bolting, blasting, scoops, hauling, hoisting, construction, etc.) and a very good overall knowledge of mining operations sequencing and capital equipment maintenance processes; Proven ability to respond effectively to unplanned events, in a high pressure environment, with conflicting priorities, in order to safely minimize operation deviations from the shift plan and shift targets and safely maximize the recovery of any lost scheduled output; Exposure to a range of workplace safety systems; Intermediate computer literacy with ability to efficiently use integrated management systems, spreadsheet applications, and word processing software; Ability to influence the actions of others via coaching and mentoring; Experience in dispatching in an underground mining environment is an asset; Leadership / supervisory training and experience is an asset; Conflict management training and experience is an asset; Strong commitment to safety and a continuous improvement culture; Able to successfully negotiate with and influence others; Able to balance a large workload within a time restrictive setting; Able to work under pressure, in a dynamic fast-paced environment, with conflicting priorities, while maintaining personal control and integrity; and Able to clearly and effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off - 12 hour shifts
