Our client, is a leading International General Contractor with Projects across North America within the Oil & Gas and Power Industries.

Currently we are recruiting for a BC Site, based;

Contracts Manager

Based at our project site in British Columbia and reporting to the Project Manager, the Contracts Manager will support the Project Management Team and will be responsible for ensuring that the contracts management function is carried out on the Project in support of Project activities, including tracking and maintaining key contracts documents, change and claims management, project correspondence, and generally ensuring the Project Team is compliant and consistent with the various contracts, Company\xe2\x80\x99s Risk Management Policies, and the law.

The successful candidate has a technical background and is experienced in contract management, with a particular emphasis on the execution side. You must have a proven ability to achieve targeted project objectives in a complex environment through exceptional communication, organization, project execution, change management, relationship management, and general problem-solving skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Formalize, document, and maintain Departmental / Divisional best practices and processes.
  • Incorporate / comply with the Company\xe2\x80\x99s risk management policies and procedures.
  • Provide comprehensive review of key documents during the bid stage.
  • Compile logs of all key commercial risk items and any variances from the Company\xe2\x80\x99s risk and financial policies and preferences.
  • Propose alternate contract language where required.
  • Collaborate with Estimating, PMO, Operations, Finance, Legal, Treasury, Taxation, Senior Management as appropriate.
  • Generate associated qualifiers and exceptions to support the tender period RFI process and bid submissions.
  • Assist in the coordination of post submission RFI\xe2\x80\x99s related to commercial risk items.
  • Coordinate the execution of key legal documents.
  • Coordinate internal and external distribution as applicable.
  • Maintain all key document control and electronic filing.
  • Facilitate the development of internal and external Joint-venture agreements as required.
  • Facilitate the review, approval and execution of Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA\xe2\x80\x99s), Memorandums of Understanding (MOU\xe2\x80\x99s) and Letters of Intent (LOI\xe2\x80\x99s).
  • Liaise with Estimating Coordination related to key Subcontractor Agreements as required.
  • Participate in Project Handover and Project Kick-off meetings.
  • Support the development of project Contract Management Plans.
  • Support the administration of Contract Amendments affecting relevant Terms and Conditions.
  • Provide input into project Risk Register development as applicable.
  • Keeping appropriately current with applicable construction and contracts laws.
  • Ensure adherence to appropriate Limits of Authority protocol.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to contracts management team.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in Contracts Management, with at least 5 years in a management role.
  • Experience in the pipeline construction industry will be considered an asset.
  • Strong construction knowledge, with pipeline experience a benefit.
  • Strong business acumen and relationship building skills.
  • Requires minimal supervision and independently directed.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable legal terminology, contract language interpretation, and terms and conditions.
  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office suite and Sharepoint, benefit to have Primavera and other Project Controls software).
  • Strong communication skills \xe2\x80\x93 oral and written are essential.
  • Ability to work accurately and effectively under pressure.
  • Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with others as a team and direct the Contracts team to meet Project objectives.
  • Ability to teach, guide, and mentor junior members of the Contracts team.
EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Engineering or Construction Management degree, Business or Law Degree (or equivalent combination of experience and training).
  • Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.) will be considered an asset.
  • Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) designation will be an asset.
