What you can expect in a typical day
As an Irving Oil Contracts & Procurement Specialist, you will have responsibility and accountability for Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Relationship Management within the chemicals & catalyst category. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to ensure that the supply plan for chemicals & catalysts is optimized across Irving Oil.

Your Roles and Responsibilities:
Support the development of category profile, position papers and sourcing strategies
Support the implementation of category strategies
Understand business requirements
Understand demand patterns to influence efficiencies through standardization
Support strategic sourcing activities
Support the identification of savings opportunities
Support the development of negotiating strategies
Manage contracts and supplier relationships as assigned
Support negotiations of GSA?s, MSA?s, and other agreements
Identify external and internal stakeholders and engage them in the all activities
Support supplier consolidation activities
Support Internal Total Cost of Ownership reduction initiatives
Analyze price behavior and forecast prices
Effectively manage the P2P process
Understand and align to customer?s markets, strategies, priorities, and plans
Support the implementation of systems and processes which support collaboration and team effectiveness
Support the implementation of KPI?s to drive continuous improvement in driving business value and productivity
Support the implementation of processes to track and report on opportunities and results achieved and that will demonstrate measurable results that improve over time
Support the implementation of strategies for competency development in all areas of responsibility including Strategic Sourcing, Contract Management, Supplier Management, P2P Process Improvements
Support the implementation of all related policies, processes, and procedures
Engage with business customers to monitor and resolve any issues with the Supplier delivering the defined scope of services or supply of goods
Supply Management Policies, Procedures and Methodologies - Execute supply management techniques and approaches
Change Management - Support and implement change management process and use change management tools & strategies at peer level
Contract Law and Management - Understand legal concepts as they pertain to purchasing as well as executing existing purchasing contracts
Negotiating - Able to secure win-win agreements while successfully representing the company?s interest
Consulting Skills - Able to identify issues, develop hypotheses, establish data frameworks, conduct analyses, draw conclusions and develop proposals
Project Management - Understand the basics of project management, & provides input in setting up a project, reports progress, analyzes data and draws conclusions

Travel:
Travel is not a requirement for this position.
Education and experience:
B.Comm, BBA, BA, LLB/JD, MBA
Registered with SCMA would be an asset
Minimum 5-10 years experience within the energy or oil and gas sector, or with Irving Oil, in positions with increasing accountability and responsibility.
