Job Summary



The Contractor Sales & Estimation Associate is responsible for developing comprehensive plans and specifications to meet customer requirements for both home and commercial construction projects. This role involves estimating the cost and quantity of materials and labor, preparing material lists from blueprints, and providing high-quality customer service. The individual may participate in sales calls and is expected to perform all tasks with efficiency and accuracy to support store operations and ensure customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities & Expectations



Customer Service

o Greet and verbally communicate with customers, management, and staff both in person and by telephone.

o Ensure customers have a positive shopping experience; take steps to rectify any issues.

o Assist the sales team by accompanying outside salespersons on customer calls when requested.

o Provide excellent customer service in-store, assisting customers with their inquiries and purchases.

o Recommend and promote additional services and products such as home finishing chattels (e.g., kitchen faucets, mirrors, cabinets, flooring).

Planning, Estimation, and Design

o Use the Interactive Design Tool (IDT) for consumer and commercial construction projects.

o Estimate material based on blueprints and customer needs.

o Prepare accurate and timely estimates for customers and management.

o Compile comprehensive lists of materials required for projects from blueprints.

o Accommodate contractors' and customers' budgets while ensuring quality.

o Up-sell features and benefits of materials and services.

o Explain building code requirements and the proper use of materials to customers.

Purchasing and Inventory Management

o Place orders for merchandise following company procedures and purchasing agreements.

o Interact with suppliers, review deliveries against orders, and manage issues related to non-supplied, under-ordered, over-ordered, or damaged goods.

Store Readiness & Maintenance

o Support opening and closing procedures, including security measures and housekeeping duties.

o Assist with general housekeeping duties, ensuring cleanliness and orderliness throughout the store, warehouse, parking lot and yard.

Professionalism & Appearance

o Maintain a professional, well-groomed appearance in line with the store's uniform policy.

Safety & Security

o Monitor for potential shoplifting incidents and take appropriate actions as per store policy.

o Follow and enforce safety protocols to ensure a secure environment for employees and customers.

o Ensure OHS standards are policies are being followed.

Team Support & Training

o Assist in training new personnel.

o Attend store meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

o Support store management with additional duties or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications



Highschool diploma or equivalent preferred.

2 years of experience in the architectural, construction, or related field.

Training in drafting, designing, estimating, and blueprint reading.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Strong mathematical and analytical skills for preparing designs and estimates.

Proficiency in using necessary equipment, including computers, and design tools.

Willingness to continuously develop professional skills and knowledge.

Working Conditions



This role is primarily office-based. The position may require sitting for extended periods, using a computer and other office equipment.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
