Company Introduction: T&T Supermarket Inc. was founded in 1993 with two stores in BC. Since then, it has expanded rapidly and is now Canada's largest Asian supermarket chain with 36 stores across the country: 14 in BC, 7 in Alberta, 13 in Ontario, and 2 in Quebec. The Company's continuous expansion is going to bring more new stores in the next couple of years.
The Role: Reporting to the Senior Manager, Contract and Compliance, the Contract Specialist plays a key role in drafting, negotiating, and managing complex procurement contracts that support T&T's operational excellence and risk management efforts. You'll work closely with stakeholders across T&T and Loblaw--spanning Business Operations, Legal, Privacy, Security, Risk, Finance, and Compliance--to ensure contracts align with company goals, policies, and regulatory standards. This is a hands-on role for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and brings a strong foundation in contracts and compliance.
Major Responsibilities: Draft, review, and negotiate various agreements (e.g., Master Agreements, Statements of Work, Ordering Documents)
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure contract terms align with company policy and risk appetite
Analyze contract language to identify risks and propose mitigations
Conduct ongoing reviews of supplier contracts and recommend improvements or restructuring
Provide summaries and risk assessments for business stakeholders
Assist with privacy-related contract reviews and support privacy compliance
Maintain contract trackers and respond to contract-related inquiries
Support internal compliance and risk management programs
Help evaluate legal terms in procurement contracts to meet category goals
Manage administrative contract tasks and documentation
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Senior Manager
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements: Hold a degree or diploma in a relevant field; a legal, business, or procurement background is preferred
Have 2-5 years of experience drafting, negotiating, and managing contracts (procurement contracts preferred)
Demonstrate strong knowledge of contract law, risk assessment, and privacy provisions
Be highly organized and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
Show a proactive, collaborative, and detail-oriented work ethic
Be comfortable working with cross-functional teams and senior leadership
Have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; knowledge of Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin) is an asset
Be proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
Possess certifications such as CIPP/C, CIPM, or other privacy/compliance credentials - these are an asset
