Based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Contract Geologist to join our growing Exploration Team.
Contract Geologist - Overview
:
The Contract Geologist will be responsible for assisting and supporting the advancement of CanAlaska's exploration strategies, principally in Saskatchewan, Canada. They will help execute exploration programs on CanAlaska's properties through application of advanced exploration techniques and analysis of geological data sets. The Contract Geologist will be involved in the collection and interpretation of geological data, and the development of new target areas.
Remote work will be required on a rotational schedule between the office and field projects while drilling programs are active.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Project Geologist, responsibilities will include:
Engage in geological work including core logging, sample collection, radiometric probing, and QA/QC to ensure industry-standard best practices.
Engage with contractors to ensure best practices are implemented and health and safety programs are followed.
Adhere to company policies, procedures and standards, and legislated requirements with a focus on health, safety, community engagement, and the environment.
Engage with the Project Geologist to plan, coordinate and execute assigned exploration programs including geological interpretations, geological modelling, diamond drilling, geophysical and geochemical surveys, reporting, and compilations.
Ensure assigned exploration activity is well designed and prioritized to maximize discovery potential in a timely and efficient manner.
Establish drill hole locations and monitor drill hole progress to effectively test targets as directed.
Complete daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reports as required for internal and external stakeholders.
Assist in proposing exploration programs including preparation and presentation of annual exploration programs as required.

Qualifications
:
Our ideal candidate has:
Bachelor's degree in Geology (required)
Registered, or has the ability to register for, membership as a Professional Geoscientist or Geoscientist in Training in Saskatchewan (APEGS)
Minimum 1 year of experience in early-stage to advanced-stage exploration
Understanding of basic geological software (ArcGIS, Geosoft, Leapfrog, or related) is an asset
Understanding of fundamental exploration disciplines, including structural geology, geochemistry, and geophysical methods
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced remote environment
Experience working field rotations in remote environments in support of exploration programs
Ability to work on a rotational schedule between the office and field project site during active exploration programs
Technical writing and presentation skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint mainly)
Good leadership and team operational skills
Self-motivated individual that is capable of working independently to troubleshoot and solve problems in remote environments
Proven commitment to workplace safety and safety leadership
Valid Class 5 Drivers License
Location
This position will be based out of the Saskatoon office. During exploration programs, the individual will be required to complete regular work rotations to the Project sites.
