Resumes are being accepted for the position of Continuous Improvement Specialist within the Continuous Improvement Office. Reporting to the Program Manager, Continuous Improvement Office, you will work with all levels of employees across the organization with the objective of driving improvement that will positively affect the performance of the departments and enhance our service to the community. Guided by the goals and objectives of the City of Guelph Corporate Strategic Plan and committed to the Corporate Values of integrity, service, inclusion, wellness and learning, the candidate will aid in the achievement of the Community Vision for an inclusive, connected, prosperous city.


Your role

  • Identify opportunities, assist in development and delivery of training support to the organization related to Continuous Improvement tools such as Lean and Six Sigma; assist with coaching White Belt, Yellow Belt and potentially Green Belt projects
  • Drives the development of a CI culture through training, coaching and consulting with others in the organization to ensure program and project success
  • Provide CI technical advice and problem-solving assistance to departments and individuals within the organization, including facilitating Kaizen events
  • Provide training, coaching and consulting to improvement project teams related to change management, conflict resolution and CI project management
  • Ensure proper tracking of improvement activities and documentation of changes
  • Creates reports and communication documents to report on program and project status
  • Research, assess and assist with implementation of industry best practices.
  • Audit effectiveness of active or completed continuous improvement activities and provide useful recommendations
  • Conduct statistical analysis to identify performance trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Partners with functional leaders, project sponsors and project leaders to help them achieve their continuous improvement goals
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time with competing deadlines
  • Support any other activities of the Continuous Improvement Office
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Considerable experience related to the duties listed above, normally acquired through the completion of a post-secondary degree in a related field with progressive experience in a quality assurance or continuous improvement-oriented role. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, certification strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of performance measurement methods and statistical analysis
  • Knowledge of Change Management (Prosci practitioner certified preferred) & Project Management principles
  • Data driven, able to prepare complex statistical reports and efficiency calculations
  • Ability to effectively teach and coach Lean and Change Management methodology thinking and tools; prefer education or experience in adult learning concepts and methods
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office software and relevant business applications required.
  • Team-oriented with demonstrable leadership, change management and project management skills
  • Possess excellent communication, presentation, organization and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrable commitment to continuous improvement and quality customer service
  • Able to manage multiple and changing demands and priorities
  • Knowledge of municipal activities and processes is an asset
  • Ability to attend meetings at offsite locations as required
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act

$69,600 - $87,000
