Your opportunity:

Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) is a non-profit organization that delivers an objectives-based program for massively scalable, seed-stage, science- and technology-based companies. Its mission is to accelerate the commercialization of science for the betterment of humankind. CDL is a global program with sites at Oxford, Paris, Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary, Halifax, Atlanta, Seattle, Wisconsin, Estonia, and Berlin. The program's objective-setting process enhances the performance of technical founders who learn from the insights of experienced entrepreneurs, increasing their probability of success. Each stream within each CDL site hosts a series of 4 annual objective-setting sessions that are the primary mechanisms by which the program is delivered. CDL sessions are complex, full-day events that may be hosted virtually or in person and that bring together participating start-ups, mentors, partners, and business students. At the end of each annual program cycle, CDL hosts a two-day event called Super Session that brings together graduating start-ups as well as mentors, partners, and students from across the network.

The CDL Marketing Team has the following key focus areas: Brand and Creative (all encompassing strategy that brings together perception, values, affiliations, vision, communication andexperience), Community (engaging internal and external CDL network to spark meaningful conversations online and offline), Content (curate stories about the CDL network to increase brand awareness and interest), Email (optimize structure, quality and relevance of emails), Media and PR (develop strong relationships with media outlets and leverage earned media coverage to increase brand awareness and interest), Recruitment (leverage marketing tactics to complement and enhance recruitment efforts), Social Media (deliver high-quality, relevant and engaging social content), and Website (showcase CDL in an intuitive and concise manner).

As the Content Creator / Marketing Coordinator, you will be responsible for consulting with clients regarding the development of marketing and/or communication materials. Producing promotional and outreach materials. Editing content for style and tone. Formatting content for distribution. Creating and maintaining presence on social media platforms. Advising clients on social media strategies and planning activities. Serving as a resource to others by providing (non-supervisory) job-related guidance.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Contributes to the development of marketing/communications by determining target audience, key messages, appropriate voice and tone of communication
  • Generating original concepts and writing copy for social media and other channels
  • Determining logistics of content scheduling for editorial calendars
  • Producing promotional and outreach materials (brochures, newsletters, websites and/or handbooks)
  • Liaising with global CDL network to support content development
  • Creating and maintaining presence on social media platforms, and tracking and monitoring social media analytics
  • Verifying that content is consistent with brand identity guidelines
  • Keeping well-informed on technological advancements that enhance marketing/communication objectives
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications, digital marketing or creative writing; or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum four (4) years recent and related experience in content creation, copywriting, or similar role
  • Excellent knowledge of Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube
  • Experience using social media analytical tools and presenting insights
  • Strong team-oriented work ethic with a willingness to work independently and autonomously
  • Adept at prioritization, communicating timelines, and meeting deadlines
Assets (Nonessential):
  • Familiarity with emerging communications technologies (i.e. Slack, Airtable, Salesforce) is preferred
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is preferred
  • Familiarity with Content Management Systems (e.g. WordPress)
  • Videography, photography, and editingskills
