Brief Overview:


Under the direction of the Metis Nation - Saskatchewan (MN S) Consultation Manager, the Consultation Liaison will support Metis communities through the consultation process related to projects that have triggered provincial or federal duty to consult and accommodate processes. The Consultation Liaison will work with the Consultation Coordinators to ensure that Metis voices are heard on development projects that may affect their rights and traditional practices.

The Consultation Liaison will support community voices by supporting the hosting of consultation and engagement events that provide information to Metis citizens and an opportunity for them to voice concerns and share their information on potential impacts to their Section 35 rights. The Liaison position is crucial in creating an inviting, culturally informed environment in which Metis citizens are comfortable engaging in important conversations.

Key Responsibilities:

Schedule and prepare for community meetings including audio/ visual requirements and coordination with proponents and consultants Implement workplans for projects and provide feedback to Coordinators and Manager Note taking, venue bookings, travel claim and honoraria preparation Support report writing and project finance review Meet with community leadership and members of community Ensure community member's voices are heard, and report back to community on what we heard through reporting, verify the information and keep community informed on how information will be used. Work with other members of the MN-S Lands and Environment team including traditional land use staff, conservation staff, environmental monitoring staff and archeologists to develop strategies to address concerns from community. Prepare travel arrangements and book meetings as required Coordinate meetings including room bookings, room preparations, document printing, and catering requirements Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills:

High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Well-developed writing, public speaking, and presentation skills. Well-developed coordination skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of Metis culture and the structure of the Metis NationSaskatchewan.

Qualifications:

Recognized training and/or diploma/certifications in Administration, Land Management, Indigenous lands governance, or similar programs. A minimum of one-year proven experience working in a similar role.
