within the
Human Resources
department.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Reporting to and under the direction of the Manager, Staffing, Human Resources this position will assume a dedicated operational role in assisting with the establishment of a centralized Position Control function. This position will maintain staffing level controls and compliance within the various Ministry Category envelopes, in conjunction with the Board's Human Resources Information System and various related applications.
Assist in the coordination and implementation of system controls and compliance to effectively maintain positions within SAPHR and related applications as they relate to approved staffing levels
Establish procedures and approval processes based on appropriate guidelines and compliance with collective agreement articles
Coordinate and participate in staffing surplus placement meetings with other Human Resources Management staff
Provide and update staffing lists during the staffing surplus cycle
Participate in various Board committees that support the staffing position control functions
Provide assistance in the administration of various employee groups during various staffing processes
Ensure accurate reporting related to collective agreement provisions and adherence to relevant regulations
Support the Human Resources management team on project related activities and departmental initiatives
Conduct analysis and prepare various management statistical and trend reports as required
Work collaboratively with other Human Resources management staff on a daily basis
Liaise daily with the board management staff on position control and compliance related matters
Perform other duties as assigned or required
REQUIREMENTS:
A relevant degree from a recognized university in Human Resources or Business Administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum four (4) years of human resources or related experience in a similar leadership and/or management capacity, ideally in a large, unionized public sector employer, education environment
Working towards Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP/CHRL) designation
Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively as a member of a team to discuss issues, solicit and provide advice, share information and provide team-focused recommendations and solutions
Understand and maintain a high level of confidentiality
Excellent computer skills including MS Outlook, HRIS, MS Office; SAP preferred, Staffing Plus would be an asset
Working knowledge of various collective agreements
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, organizational and time management skills required
