Overview of the opportunity:

We are looking for dynamic professionals to join our growing Governance, Risk and Compliance Services (GRCS) practice at a Senior Consultant level, to specialize in the Energy and Natural Resources (ENR) sector. GRCS professionals provide a range of risk assurance and advisory services to organizations including internal audits, internal control advisory services, enterprise risk management support, assessments of third-party relationships, regulatory compliance, governance, sustainability and ESG initiatives.

We analyze and assess an organization\'s business strategies and related business processes and systems to help management understand and address business objectives, requirements, risks, controls, and identify improvement opportunities. Our professionals bring both deep technical and industry experience, allowing clients to strengthen their key governance, risk management and compliance efforts while optimizing business performance.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the planning, execution, and reporting for GRCS engagements, and identifying and executing on practice development opportunities, primarily in the ENR sector. The position will be for the Toronto Office.

What you will do


  • Be able to interview clients and document process narratives and/or workflows based on interviews with process and control owners
  • Be able to identify controls and develop a robust risk and control matrix and internal audit program based on both interviews and documentation reviews
  • Be able to independently conduct testing over the internal audit programs in a working paper
  • Mentor, drive and review quality of work prepared by team members
  • Support managers in managing project timelines, engagement quality, budget as well as the client relationship
  • Deliver multiple simultaneous client engagements of varying size, scope and complexity
  • Engage with cross functional engagement teams comprised of diverse backgrounds and skill sets
  • Assist with business development efforts of proposals, marketing material, internal and external presentations in the ENR sector
  • Delivering high quality work that is on time and in compliance with the Firm\'s quality standards
What you bring to the role


  • Ideally 3 to 5 years practical work experience in similar positions performing SOX, NI 52-109 or internal audits
  • Extensive internal audit experience or experience in compliance, controls and governance
  • Professional designated accountant
  • Experience in effectively leading and managing a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexible work style and willing to learn new ways, methods and approaches
  • Ability to adapt methodologies and techniques to unique circumstances
  • Self-motivated and is willing to ask probing questions to uncover client opportunities
  • Comfortable leading client meetings with junior to senior client staff
