Overview


We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Construction Laboratory Technician to join our team. This role involves supporting construction projects through precise testing, analysis, and quality assurance of materials and samples. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in laboratory procedures, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to high-quality construction standards while gaining valuable industry experience.

Responsibilities



This position is intended to support applied learning in GIS, surveying, and construction data workflows through supervised field experience. Assisting with field surveying using GPS/GNSS equipment and basic survey instruments Supporting construction layout, stake-out, and verification of grades, alignments, and site features Conducting site measurements, elevations, and distance checks to support construction activities Collecting, recording, and documenting field survey and spatial data accurately Assisting with as-built data collection and verification of completed work Supporting field data transfer from survey equipment to customer reports Assisting with construction activities to gain understanding of site operations and spatial data application Performing other jobsite duties related to survey and construction support Adhering to workplace health, safety, and jobsite procedures Working indoors and outdoors in various environmental conditions

Requirements



Currently enrolled in or recently completed a GIS, Geomatics, Construction Engineering Technology, or related program. Basic understanding of GPS/GNSS data collection, surveying principles, and spatial data accuracy. Familiarity with field data collection workflows and documentation procedures. Ability to collect, record, and manage field survey and spatial data accurately and efficiently. Basic knowledge of construction layouts, site measurements, elevations, and alignments (training provided as needed). Comfortable working with survey equipment, hand tools, and mobile data collection devices. Ability to transfer field data to reports, drawings under supervision. Willingness to work outdoors and indoors in varying weather conditions. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to data quality and safety. Ability to follow workplace health, safety, and construction site procedures at all times. Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with surveyors, engineers, and construction personnel. Physically capable of performing fieldwork, including walking uneven terrain and standing for extended periods. Valid Class 5 driver's licenses
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.74-$36.19 per hour

Expected hours: 35 - 40 per week

Work Location: In person
