Role and responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage the personnel assigned to the construction.
  • Ensure at all times that the health and safety policy on the work sites is respected.
  • Monitor and control the progress of work packages until contract closure.
  • Manage the contractual relationship with contractors on behalf of the client.
  • Monitor and control work package budgets.
  • Follow the schedule of the execution of the work.
  • Update relevant project documentation (HSE procedures, QC/QA plan).
  • Manage construction interfaces with operations, other projects, communities, third party procurement, etc.
  • Participate in critical project management workshops (risks, constructability).
  • Assist the client in the transfer of assets.
  • Be diligent in anticipating negative events.
  • Ensure at all times that the environmental policy on the work sites is respected.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor\'s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.

Years of experience: Minimum of 20 years of experience in construction and supervision of large highway or railway projects.

Technical competencies:
  • Chartered Professional Engineer in Canada.
  • Good knowledge of contracts administration and negotiation.
  • Effective interpersonal and cooperative skills.
Personal & soft skills:
  • Experience in remote locations an asset.
  • Good management and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership qualities.
  • Decisive and able to give the correct decision at the right time.
  • Fluency in French and English (spoken, read and written), due to the projects and clients specific to the position.

Contract nature: Permanent

Location: Nunavut - Canada (on-site) with rotation

Division: Intercity and Heavy Rail

Reports to: VP, Intercity and Heavy Rail

Remuneration: To be determined
