We are currently seeking an experienced Construction Site Supervisor / Carpenter to join our rapidly growing company in Toronto, Ontario.

Position Summary:



The Site Supervisor is responsible for planning, scheduling, and overseeing all facets of their assigned projects, including daily subtrade check-ins and management. They are also responsible for ensuring overall site safety, quality assurance, documenting subtrades activities, and escalating site issues that warrant changes or site instructions. Extensive travel throughout the territory will be required to achieve our growth expectations.

The Site Supervisor must meet the requirements of a "competent person" as defined under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain accurate documentation throughout all project phases.

The Site Supervisor must remain eligible for, obtain, and maintain all required licences, certifications, authorizations, and full, unrestricted security clearances for the duration of their employment; any loss, restriction, condition, escort requirement, pending investigation, or other circumstance that affects eligibility or access may result in removal from projects, reassignment, or discontinuation of employment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:



Ensure the overall health & safety of the project site as follows: Maintain a clean and safe site. Support all health & safety initiatives and be an effective workplace role model through the promotion of health & safety. Complies with all Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) regulations and other related provincial legislation. Complies with all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal legislation, regulations, standards, codes, and lawful orders governing construction projects, workplace health and safety, employment, environmental protection, accessibility, reporting, and site operations. Participates in all internal & external audits (ISO 45001:2018, MOL, etc.) and supports all initiatives. May act as an ISO Internal Quality Auditor if assigned. Acts as the site Health & Safety Representative (HSR). Understands and adheres to RMC Health & Safety Policies & Procedures. Understands and adheres to RMC Employee Handbook. Understands and adheres to the RMC OHSMS Manual Level I & II. Demonstrates and enforces safe work practices and ensures hazards, non-compliances, and unsafe conditions are identified, corrected, and reported in accordance with legislation and company policy. Ensures all documentation, inspections, checklists, and reports are completed accurately, truthfully, and on time; falsification, omission, or back-dating of records is strictly prohibited. Completes all assigned training before performing related work and maintains all required certifications in good standing. Requires immediate self-reporting of any change that affects job eligibility, including loss or suspension of security clearance, driver's licence, insurance, or required certifications. As a supervisor, fulfills all legal duties under applicable legislation, including taking every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of workers, as required by the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Schedule and supervise subtrades and vendors daily. Read and interpret various division drawings and specifications (architectural, mechanical, electrical, structural, design, site plans, etc.). Manage subtrades on site to ensure project schedule is maintained. Assist in preparation of high-level project schedule. Log daily and weekly reports documenting construction progress, site conditions, inspections, issues, trade delays, etc. Issue RFIs (Requests for Information) in a timely manner to relevant stakeholders.

Travel to multiple sites as required.

Maintains eligibility for required security clearances and promptly reports any change in personal legal status, investigation, police involvement, or condition that may impact site access or clearance validity.

Maintains a safe driving record and complies with all applicable road safety laws while operating a vehicle for company business.

Coordinate meetings with relevant stakeholders (City officials, clients, project managers, etc.) as required, issue meeting minutes. Coordinate with the landlord, property management group and/or client as required throughout the project life cycle. Liaise with support teams as required. Assist with general carpentry work, hanging doors, installing baseboards, door hardware, trim installation, minor framing & drywall, flooring, etc.

Control expenses against budget and submit required reports in a timely manner.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:



Exceptional understanding of Construction industry principles and techniques. Excellent understanding of trade scopes, scheduling, and coordination of work. Ability to read and interpret drawings (architectural, mechanical, electrical, etc.). Familiar with Ontario Building Codes, Ministry of Labour and Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations (OHSA). Ability to rapidly build strong relationships with existing and new subtrades. Ability to work in a team atmosphere and influence others. Self-motivated and operates with a sense of urgency. Strong carpentry skills. Able and willing to work evenings, overnight shifts, and weekends as required by project schedules. Proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing). Strong computer skills including proficiency with all Microsoft office programs. MS Project (an asset).

Minimum Qualifications:



Employment in this role is conditional upon continued compliance with all legal, safety, and competency requirements relevant to construction site supervision.

Secondary diploma and/or equivalent experience in construction supervision is preferred. Candidates with substantial proven experience in project management, trade coordination, or construction site supervision may also be considered.

Must meet OHSA requirements for a competent supervisor on construction projects.

The employee must immediately disclose any circumstance that may affect security clearance eligibility, including but not limited to pending investigations, charges, police contact, background findings, or conditions imposed by a client or law enforcement agency. The company retains the right to remove the employee from security-sensitive work or employment if clearance is denied, restricted, delayed, revoked, or downgraded (including escort-required clearances).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.00-$50.00 per hour
