Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Construction Safety Coordinator and Site Assistant to oversee safety protocols and ensure compliance at multi-family or commercial construction sites while assisting the General Site Superintendent with logistical tasks on site. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Construction and a thorough knowledge of safety standards and construction sequence.

Duties

Implement and monitor safety policies and procedures on site. Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with WorksafeBC and other regulatory standards. Lead safety meeting sessions for on site trades and personnel, emphasizing best practices and hazard prevention. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions. Prepare injury reports and correspondence. Be physically fit and able to handle construction materials and navigate stairs throughout the day Be comfortable to work in inclement weather - the sites are outdoor and exposed to the elements. Open and close the site fencing as required Repair and install temporary hoarding or guardrails as required Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and workers to promote safety awareness and accountability. Maintain accurate safety documentation, reports, and records for regulatory inspections and internal reviews.

Qualifications

Have a Intermediate First Aid Certificate Have a Traffic Control Person certificate Have a BC Drivers License Have basic carpentry skills Proven experience in construction safety management or related roles within the manufacturing or construction industries. Strong knowledge of WorksafeBC regulations, safety standards, and risk management principles. Excellent communication skills to effectively convey safety policies and foster a culture of compliance. A proactive approach with strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure ongoing safety improvements.
