What you can expect in a typical day

We are currently seeking a Construction Execution Lead to join our Construction and Maintenance Projects team at our refinery in Saint John, New Brunswick. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the planning, organizing, control and execution activities associated with construction and outages. This includes review of schedule, monitoring progress, and dealing with project change management as required.

Your roles and responsibilities:

Coach and mentor a team of Field Coordinators by working closely with them to implement SMART goals in line with overall goals and standards for the organization. Develop training requirements and succession planning for the team. Promote discipline knowledge exchange and leverage learning experiences through technical coaching.

Ensure projects are well planned, scheduled, risks are identified as well as mitigated and all construction readiness activities are completed before commencing construction or outage field activities. This includes participating in constructability sessions as part of the front end planning phases.

Maintain and progress schedule during execution and process changes in the original scope as barriers are encountered. Support the removal of systemic and tactical barriers by identifying, and creating mitigation plans to minimize reoccurrence.

Monitor and report progress against established schedules. Provide direction and alignment with the goal of ensuring timelines are accurate, realistic, and achievable for projects.

Develop and implements quality control programs with an ongoing focus on continuous improvements. Streamline activities through established processes and procedures, problem solving and team engagement.

Review work for risks and corrects deficiencies.

Collaborate with Construction Manager, Planning and Project Management in preparing budget estimates.

Lead regular scheduling meetings with team and various stakeholders including critical path reviews. Risk analysis for challenges; offer solutions for issues.

Very high level of technical knowledge with regards to refinery equipment, operations, and maintenance is required.

Able to work in the field: this includes working in year-round weather conditions, able to bend, climb, stoop, kneel, crawl, etc. and able to lift up to 20lbs. You must be comfortable with high elevation climbing, working at heights, and in enclosed spaces. You must be able to wear full PPE as required by safety standards.

Valid Canadian driver\xe2\x80\x99s license.

Education and experience

Post-secondary education in engineering technology, engineering, trades or equivalent experience.

Minimum 10 years of experience with maintenance, construction, or capital projects in a heavy industrial environment.

5-10 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in construction management activities within oil and gas industry.

Minimum 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in supervising staff to achieve effective job execution.
