We are seeking a talented and experienced individual to join our team in the role of Construction Estimator.


The Construction Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and timely full-cost estimates for a variety of construction projects. Working in collaboration with the Project Manager, Project Coordinator, and other members of the construction team, the Estimator will test for project feasibility and analyze building projects from multiple angles. Additionally, the Estimator will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a tendering process (RFPs), preparing cost and expenditure statements, completing all take-offs for related materials, and presenting finished estimates in detail to various parties.


The successful candidate will have strong mathematical, analytical, and communication skills with great attention to detail.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare full-cost estimates of probable materials, labour, and equipment costs for construction projects.
  • Prepare cost and expenditure statements and forecasts at regular intervals for the duration of a project.
  • Establish and maintain tendering process (RFPs) and set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
  • Complete all take-offs for all related materials.
  • Prepare detailed comparison spreadsheets for Project Manager for all tenders received.
  • Advise on tendering procedures, examine and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards, and conduct negotiations with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Prepare Purchase Orders, Change Orders, and Sub-Contracts as required.
  • Administer design changes where required and provide proper supporting documentation.
  • Ensure proper flow of paperwork to the site (change orders, field PO\xe2\x80\x99s, RFI\xe2\x80\x99s, etc.).
  • Monitor construction procurement processes.
  • Resolve cost differences by analyzing and collecting info.
  • Write up and present budgets, reports, and project plans.
  • Attend design meetings with Architects, Consultants, and Construction/Development personnel for each project.
  • Stay up to date with safety codes and improvements in construction.
  • Be aware of new construction practices and materials available on the market.
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Liaise, consult, and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors, and prepare economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.



Qualifications and Skills:
  • Post-secondary education in mathematics, architecture, engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Strong math skills, including algebra, geometry, and basic arithmetic.
  • Ability to navigate specifications and plans.
  • Extensive understanding of construction methods and materials.
  • Close attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to unforeseen situations.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments at once.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of project management software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
