Construction Estimator

to join our collaborative, fast-paced team in

Fredericton and surrounding areas

. From apartment buildings and schools to dealerships, warehouses, and hospitals -- you'll play a key role in pricing and planning projects that you can proudly point to and say, "I helped make that happen."

If you enjoy solving problems, working with data, and understanding how projects come together, this could be the perfect fit. You'll spend most of your time at a desk preparing estimates, reviewing drawings, and organizing information in spreadsheets and software -- work that requires focus, logic, and precision. If you're the type who enjoys puzzles, strategy games, or coding-style problem solving, you'll likely find this role rewarding. You'll also have the satisfaction of seeing your work come to life when projects move from plans to construction.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a technical diploma or degree in construction technology, engineering, or architecture, and 1-4 years of construction or estimating experience. You'll receive guidance and mentorship while developing the skills to handle full project estimates independently.

If you prefer hands-on field work, struggle to stay focused on detailed tasks, find computer-based work tedious, or prefer being outdoors rather than in an office, this probably isn't the right fit.

What You'll Do



Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for apartment and commercial building projects. Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents to understand project scope and requirements. Complete material, labour, and equipment quantity take-offs across various disciplines. Identify project risks, phasing, logistics, and indirect costs, including contingencies. Solicit, review, and compare subcontractor and supplier pricing to ensure complete coverage. Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants. Collaborate with project managers and design teams during preconstruction to develop budgets and value-engineered options. Conduct site visits and investigations to confirm project conditions and quantities. Prepare bid proposals, cost breakdowns, clarifications, and supporting documentation. Maintain accurate cost databases and historical pricing for future estimating. Ensure all estimates comply with client, contract, and company requirements. Perform other related duties as required to support the success of the estimating department.

Analytical and detail-oriented -- you notice when numbers or drawings don't add up Strong with numbers, organization, and time management Able to manage multiple spreadsheets and deadlines simultaneously but separate Comfortable communicating with subcontractors, suppliers, and coworkers Team player who works well with others but can stay focused independently Proficient with computers (Excel, Outlook, ChatGPT, etc.) Eager to learn, adaptable, and motivated to grow in a professional environment Positive attitude, dependable, and proud of the work you produce

What We're Looking For



1-4 years of experience in construction or estimating Technical diploma or degree in Construction Technology, Engineering, or Architecture would be an asset Strong computer skills (Excel, Outlook, ChatGPT, etc..) Knowledge with Sage Estimating, Planswift, Roctek, sketch-up, Bluebeam, and Trello, are not required, but would be an asset Excellent math, attention to detail, and organizational skills
