Purpose:
Facilities Services is a team of professionals who are committed to the delivery of support services that strive to enhance the quality of campus life for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The Construction Associate is responsible for providing project management support to various renovations or renewal construction projects in Construction Project Development, Facilities Services.

Education:
College diploma in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field or anequivalent of 2 years recent experience (defined as within the last three years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below. Project Management and Certified EngineeringTechnologist certificate an asset.

Experience:
Four (4) years relevant related experience working in a construction and project management environment dealing directly with professional consultants, general contractor, vendors, and subtrades including onsite monitoring and inspection. One (1) year strong working knowledge of Building Codes, Planning, Design, and construction related terminology.

Skills:
Demonstrated skills including:
Ability to accesses specifications and read drawings in various paper and electronic formats.
Basic knowledge of materials and methods used in the construction industry.
Strong working knowledge of Building Codes, Planning, Design, and construction related terminology.
Good working knowledge of planning and architectural design and their terminology.
Working knowledge of Building Codes.
Good working knowledge of safety codes and regulations as they relate to construction sites.
Working knowledge of construction techniques, practices, and terminology.
Excellent organizational skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Ability to exercise tact and courtesy in dealing with others. Demonstrated computer skills including:
Basic knowledge of latest versions of AutoCAD and other drawing/graphing programs (Visio,Navisworks and BIM).
Basic knowledge of project management software (MS Project).
Basic word processing (MS Word).
Basic spreadsheet (MS Excel).
Email (Lotus Notes). Other:
