Brief Overview:


The Metis Nation - Saskatchewan is seeking to hire a strong candidate to fill the role as a Conservation Liaison. The Conservation Liaison provides high-level administrative and coordination support to the Conservation Program Manager and supports the activities of the Conservation team. This position assists with program administration, digital file management, and reporting, while ensuring smooth day-to-day operations for the Conservation Program Manager and staff.

The Conservation Liaison plays a key role in coordinating meetings, scheduling, arranging travel, and overseeing event logistics. They are responsible for managing correspondence, taking meeting minutes, maintaining organized digital files, and supporting the preparation of program documentation including verbatim transcription.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and professional, with strong communication and administrative skills. This position requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, and work effectively with internal staff, community leaders, and external partners.

Key Responsibilities:

Administrative and Program Support

Provide administrative support to the Conservation Program Manager and team. Record and prepare accurate meeting minutes (stenography) for internal and external meetings. Maintain digital and physical filing systems for Conservation program documents. Assist in the preparation and formatting of reports, briefing notes, and program correspondence. Track deadlines, deliverables, and reporting timelines to ensure timely submissions.

Scheduling and Coordination

Schedule meetings, prepare agendas, and distribute relevant materials. Book accommodations, travel, and venues for program events, workshops, and community meetings. Maintain calendars and coordinate availability for the Conservation Program Manager and staff. Support logistical arrangements for site visits, conferences, and community engagements.

Communication and Liaison

Serve as a primary point of contact for inquiries directed to the Conservation Program Manager. Communicate professionally with Metis community leaders, citizens, and partner organizations. Support clear and timely communication within the Conservation team and with other MN-S departments.

File and Information Management

Maintain up-to-date digital file systems in accordance with MN-S document management standards. Support the organization and archiving of project documentation and correspondence. Ensure sensitive information is handled confidentially and securely.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of Metis culture, history, and governance is considered a significant asset. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and digital file management systems. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with staff, community leaders, and partners. Discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information. Flexibility to travel within Saskatchewan and adapt to varying work environments, including office, community, and field settings.

Qualifications and Experience

Post-secondary education in Office Administration, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 2 years of experience providing administrative or executive support. Experience in a government, Indigenous organization, or environmental sector setting is considered an asset.

Additional requirements:

Valid Saskatchewan driver's license and access to reliable transportation. Willingness to work in rural and remote areas. Must undergo a Criminal Record Check. Must be willing to travel 10% of the time for this position. Please submit your application by
