Reporting to the Senior Communications and Government Affairs Specialist, the Communications Advisor is responsible for applying strategic and technical expertise to design, coordinate, and deliver clear, consistent, and engaging messages to internal and external audiences. He contributes to the implementation of integrated communications initiatives that support Gold Fields' reputation, brand, and sustainable development objectives. He will work a 5-day work week followed by 2 days off at our Montreal offices, with occasional travel to the site.

Duties and responsibilities



Contribute to the development and implementation of a comprehensive communications strategy for Canadian operations that is consistent with the company's global objectives and the needs of the country. Contribute to the development of the internal and external communications plan, drawing on knowledge of Windfall's communications needs and public sentiment in the country; Develop and implement innovative and integrated communications plans by researching, writing, and publishing content in various media formats; Strengthen and maintain relationships with associated suppliers; Create, edit, and manage high-quality content for various communication channels, including social media, newsletters, intranet, presentations, and speeches for Canadian employees; Proofread communication materials to ensure message accuracy and compliance with communication standards; Review photographic material in accordance with quality standards; Ensure all communications are clear, consistent, and aligned with company values and messaging; Act as the guardian of brand and style guidelines and ensure consistency across all platforms in terms of appearance, image, identity, branding, and messaging; Collaborate with leadership to develop and communicate key messages to employees; Ensure that all communications comply with local, national, and international regulations and industry standards; Stay informed of legislative changes and best practices in communications; Contribute to the design of programs to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communications strategies and campaigns; Prepare regular reports on communication metrics and provide useful information for continuous improvement; Work closely with the group's internal and external communications departments, the Vice President of Environment and Community Relations, and group functions to ensure alignment and integration of communication efforts; Work closely with Windfall's General Manager to understand on-site communication needs; Support communication with our community stakeholders by working closely with the Canadian External Affairs team; Report any situation that could affect the occupational health and safety of staff and the physical integrity of facilities; Perform any other duties related to the communications advisor position that are relevant to the success of the project.

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field; At least five (5) years of relevant communications experience, preferably in the mining industry or a highly regulated sector; Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills in English and French. Fluency in Spanish is an asset.

Technical skills



Good knowledge of media and communication channels; Proficiency in communication tools and platforms (e.g., intranet, applications, email marketing software, content management systems); Strong analytical and reporting skills; Very good knowledge of financial and non-financial translation and information; Good knowledge and understanding of local laws and language regulations.

Basic skills



Ability to learn quickly; Be self-motivated, show initiative, and be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; Have good organizational skills and the ability to recognize priorities; Be an excellent team player; Be thorough and demonstrate ethics and integrity; Demonstrate tact and political savvy; Have good analytical skills.
