We are seeking an organized, customer-focused, and hands-on
Compound Attendant
to join our team at Astro Towing. This role is a hybrid of customer service, administrative coordination, and outdoor vehicle handling. The Compound Attendant supports day-to-day compound operations by greeting and assisting customers, processing documentation, coordinating vehicle access and releases, maintaining records, and ensuring the compound remains clean, organized, and secure.
Success in this position requires a positive attitude, strong communication and computer skills, attention to detail, and comfort working both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
While we operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, this position follows a Monday through Friday schedule, and is scheduled between the hours of 8:00 am and 6:30 pm.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Greet and interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
Answer customer calls and address compound-related inquiries.
Clearly communicate vehicle access and release procedures to customers.
Verify documentation and ensure all company policies and processes are followed before releasing vehicles.
Escort customers to vehicles and assist with vehicle retrieval as needed.
Move customer vehicles within the compound to facilitate access and efficient operations.
Assist customers with minor vehicle needs such as battery boosts or inflating tires.
Complete and maintain accurate administrative records, including filing, invoicing, and processing payments.
File and process SGI impound letters, ensuring all documentation is scanned and attached to the appropriate records.
Communicate with management regarding SGI impound vehicles with auction permission or other required updates.
Check daily storage entries for accuracy and update as needed.
Monitor compound reports for vehicles eligible for sale and ensure proper paperwork and plate removal are completed.
Perform daily compound walkabouts to identify security or maintenance issues, ensuring the yard remains clean and safe.
Oversee the Ident Bay area, ensuring vehicles are processed securely and efficiently.
Review overnight arrivals, securing vehicles as needed (closing windows, tarping, etc.) and recording any issues.
Communicate regularly with management and team members to ensure smooth, coordinated compound operations.
Other duties as assigned or required.
Competencies and Requirements
Must hold and maintain a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 driver's license and have an acceptable driver's abstract.
Friendly, professional, and customer-service oriented.
Strong written, verbal, and computer communication skills.
Highly organized with great attention to detail and accuracy in paperwork.
Confident and capable with basic vehicle maintenance tasks (e.g., boosting batteries, inflating tires).
Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Physically capable of walking, standing, and lifting as required.
Team player who collaborates well, takes initiative, and supports overall operations.
Maintains composure and professionalism when addressing customer concerns or unexpected challenges.
