We are seeking a
Compost Facility Manager
who takes full ownership of the facility, equipment, and grounds, and who can be relied upon by mobile teams every single day.
The Role
This is a
hands-on management position
requiring a highly independent, organized, and physically capable individual. You will be
the person
responsible for ensuring the facility is operationally ready, immaculately maintained, and properly equipped for incoming teams.
This role requires strong leadership through action, exceptional organization, and the ability to manage details others overlook. You will work closely with all mobile teams and must be dependable, prepared, and proactive at all times.
Key ResponsibilitiesComposting Operations
Perform composting of deceased animals in a
graceful, respectful, and professional manner
(training provided)
Follow all protocols related to biosecurity, cleanliness, and environmental standards
Maintain strict organization of composting materials and processes
Equipment & Machinery
Operate loaders and tractors
efficiently, safely, and confidently
Perform general maintenance and basic mechanical repairs on equipment
Identify and address mechanical issues before they impact operations
Property & Grounds Management
Maintain the entire property to an
exceptionally high standard
Summer responsibilities include:
Grass cutting with clean,
straight lines
Planting and maintaining trees, shrubs, flowers, and garden beds
Deep edging and professional landscaping standards
Tree maintenance including pruning and crowning where appropriate
Winter responsibilities include:
Snow plowing and ice management
Keeping all access points safe, clear, and operational
Facility & Team Support
Ensure the facility is
ready and properly stocked
for returning mobile teams
Anticipate needs and ensure nothing is missed--down to the smallest detail
Clean, wash, and disinfect trucks and trailers
Maintain buildings, yards, and workspaces in immaculate condition
Livestock & Animal Care
Daily care of on-site livestock
Comfortable and confident working around animals, including
packs of dogs
Must be
very pet-friendly
and calm around animals
Required Qualifications
Valid Ontario G Driver's Licence
(required)
Restricted R licence
and experience driving trucks and trailers is a strong asset
Proven experience operating loaders and tractors
Strong mechanical aptitude and general maintenance skills
Ability to lift
70-100 lbs
as required
Highly organized individual capable of turning any space into a clean, functional, professional environment
Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate with multiple teams
Comfortable working outdoors year-round in all weather conditions
Must have a reliable personal vehicle
(rural location with no public transportation)

Schedule & Expectations
Full-time, Monday-Friday
Core hours:
7:00 a.m. - 5:00/6:00 p.m.
Some flexibility required for occasional extra hours or weekend work
This is a
management-level responsibility
requiring reliability and commitment
This is a starting wage. The right person will grow quickly in both responsibility and compensation and will be trusted with larger operational and leadership responsibilities over time.
