Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and ensure compliance with CBSA regulations, customs laws, and other government agency requirements
Perform audits and reviews of customs entries, classifications, valuation, and origin declarations
Identify and correct discrepancies to mitigate compliance risks
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and communicate updates to internal teams and clients
Assist with the resolution of customs delays, requests for information, and enforcement actions
Provide support and guidance to internal teams and clients regarding HS classification, permits, valuation, and documentation requirements
Liaise with CBSA, CFIA, and other regulatory bodies as needed
Maintain and update internal compliance documentation, SOPs, and training materials
Qualifications:
Minimum 8 years of experience in customs compliance or a similar role within the brokerage or logistics industry
CCS designation (Certified Customs Specialist) preferred or in progress
Strong knowledge of CBSA regulations, D-Memos, and relevant trade agreements (CUSMA, CPTPP, etc.)
Experience with HS classification, valuation methods, and origin determination
High attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication abilities
Proficiency with customs software and Microsoft Office Suite
