About the Role: We are looking for a highly-motivated individual to serve as a Compliance Officer, based in Toronto. In this role, you will have the opportunity to support Swiss Re\'s Canadian Reinsurance business through the Compliance Reinsurance team\'s mandate, while interacting with many Compliance team members and business colleagues. You will also provide support to Group and Compliance team initiatives and projects, as required. In this capacity you will:
  • Support development and delivery of the Compliance Programme, the annual Compliance Plan and associated compliance risk mitigation standards for existing, new and changes to regulations including policies, guidelines, training and communication
  • Provide compliance guidance to the Business (implementation of Swiss Re Policies and Standards, best practice processes and controls, business decision evaluations and process support), including managing Compliance risk in the digital space
  • Support regular and relevant reporting to the Group, Senior Management and the local Branch Management Committee and serve as appointed Compliance Officer for the Swiss Reinsurance Canadian Branch
  • Monitor regulatory developments work with the Business to ensure requirements are implemented and adequately mitigated;
  • Develop and maintain local policies in coordination with the global policy framework and support development of global policies
  • Participate in, and contribute to, wider regional and global initiatives to support our team\'s mandate.
  • Education and provision of training as needed on compliance matters, such as Bridger tool

About the Team: This is an exciting opportunity to join the Reinsurance Americas Compliance team, whose other members are located in the US, Brazil and Mexico. We provide end-to-end guidance on key Compliance risks including AML, ITC, Anti-Bribery & Corruption, Data Protection, Conduct Risk and others relating to Swiss Re Group\'s Reinsurance business. Our clients are diverse and driven business teams, committed to delivering value and innovative services. In our team, you will learn about the Compliance risks facing an international re/insurance business.
About You:
  • University degree in law or business
  • Minimum 4 years legal, compliance, audit or risk management experience, preferable in an insurance or financial services company
  • Solid understanding of Canadian insurance regulations and requirements and compliance risks
  • Proficiency in using technology effectively in carrying out functional responsibilities; experience with the Resolver tool and Bridger tool desired
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate complex assignments across multidisciplinary teams
  • High energy, comfortable working independently and handling multiple requests and deadlines
  • Demonstrate a high degree of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information
  • Hard-working and strong desire to learn
  • Display a "can do" mindset, are dedicated and put the client first
  • Team player with strong stakeholder management, communication, interpersonal and presenting skills
  • Strong written and spoken English language skills required; French a plus
