supports compliance by organizations obligated under Regulation to participate in Alberta Recycling Management Authority's (ARMA's) programs, through the review of an organization's records and their submitted reporting. This position is responsible for verifying that registered organizations are meeting their reporting and payment obligations under the governing regulations and bylaws of ARMA's programs. This position requires frequent travel to various locations within Alberta, with occasional travel out of the province.
Core Responsibilities:
Verify the accuracy of reporting by registered organizations through conducting assigned compliance reviews according to established procedures and the use of analytical and audit tools.
Plan and schedule assigned program compliance reviews, including reporting and tracking of reviews.
Arrange travel and accommodation in accordance with organizational policy.
Prepare compliance review results for review and approval by supervisor, including adjustments arising from reviews.
Assist organizations with the submission of other reporting adjustments (e.g. self-assessments) as required.
Effectively communicates the results of compliance reviews to registered organizations, identifying areas of concern, causal factors, possible solutions, and required actions.
Communicate issues for further follow-up with the Registration Administrator for the program.
Monitor and follow up on the status of self-assessments assigned to reviewed parties, ensuring completion within the assigned timeframe.
Assist with the development of annual compliance review selections through the use of analytical tools.
Assist with fiscal year-end reporting on compliance review results.
Provide regular compliance plan status updates to the Director, Registration throughout the year.
Conduct liaison visits with registered organizations and potential registered organizations according to established process.
Manage and responds to inquiries and concerns from registered organizations.
Maintain a detailed record of communications with registered organizations in the required systems.
Provide input into any compliance procedures and documents.
Maintain files in accordance with the organizational filing systems.
Provide staff coverage and assistance with special projects, on an as needed basis, in all aspects of the department's responsibilities.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

Experience & Core Competencies:
Post-secondary degree, preferably in the areas of accounting, finance or economics.
Equivalent combination of education and audit related experience may be acceptable.
A working knowledge of basic accounting principles and experience in audit related work.
Proficient in using Office 365 applications, with a focus on analytical tools such as Excel (proficient with vlookup, Pivot tables, etc.). Experience with Power BI considered a strong asset.

Experience in working independently with minimal supervision.
This position requires that a driver's abstract be supplied to ARMA upon hire and on an annual basis to demonstrate an acceptable driving record.
