About this Opportunity Under the general supervision of the Clinical Care Supervisor, the Community Wellness Counsellor is responsible to provide direct therapeutic services (case load) and coordination of the integrated Westbank First Nation (WFN) Wellness Program. The Community Wellness Counsellor facilitates a collaborative therapeutic system of care model that incorporates a \xe2\x80\x9cWrap Around\xe2\x80\x9d philosophy and supports individuals and families toward improving mental health and wellness.

You will\xe2\x80\xa6 \xe2\x80\xa2 Work with team members to offer mental health interviews with clients, family members and other significant supports to obtain pertinent history relevant to assessment and treatment, gathering all relevant information from community to assist with assessment \xe2\x80\xa2 Establish linkages with other Westbank First Nation community programs to create and support programs and maintains contact with other agencies, boards or affiliates \xe2\x80\xa2 Provide support to program team, individuals and families as part of a multi-service wellness partnership \xe2\x80\xa2 Act as a primary counsellor; initiates therapeutic relationship; conducts interviews with individuals, families etc. to identify areas of concern; and plans for and implements individual and/or family counseling sessions and Wrap around supports across the Mental Wellness continuum \xe2\x80\xa2 Provide one-to-one and group intake where appropriate, psychoeducation to families and community partners with a focus on helping them to understand mental illness/wellness

  • Liaise and advocates between the client, family, other members of the treatment team and the larger treatment community
Must Haves: \xe2\x80\xa2 Bachelors degree in a mental health related field, such as, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Psychology preferred \xe2\x80\xa2 Diploma in Counselling, with 2 years of relevant experience will be considered \xe2\x80\xa2 Maintain professional licensure and/or certification throughout employment with WFN \xe2\x80\xa2 Experience working with individuals with mental health illness, substance abuse and their family members from a holistic perspective as well as a psychiatric perspective, in community-based setting is preferred
  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search with results acceptable to WFN
  • Valid Class 5 Driver\'s License, and an acceptable driver\'s abstract with reliable transportation
