Join Our Casual Pool of Community Support Workers
Are you passionate about supporting individuals with disabilities in achieving their goals? Are you looking for flexible, meaningful work where your efforts make a real difference? We are currently building a casual on-call pool of Community Support Workers (CSWs) to provide as-needed coverage for scheduled and short-notice shifts in Kelowna, BC.
This role supports individuals referred by Community Living BC (CLBC) in areas such as skill development, employment, harm reduction, and community living. Ideal for professionals seeking part-time, casual work with the opportunity to grow within a values-driven organization.
Key Responsibilities
Provide skill development, employment support, and community-based harm reduction to CLBC-referred individuals.
Assist clients in goal setting, daily living skills, housing stability, and personal growth.
Offer emotional support, guidance, and crisis intervention when needed.
Encourage independence, promote safety, and support clients in developing positive community and family relationships.
Refer clients to community services such as healthcare, housing, employment, and mental health supports.
Maintain accurate case notes, action plans, and monthly reporting as required.
Transport clients in a safe and insured vehicle as needed.
Collaborate with family/support networks and other service providers.
Participate in team meetings, training, and community engagement activities.
Remain up-to-date on CLBC protocols, health and safety standards, and emerging initiatives.
Provide light support with household tasks such as cleaning or meal preparation.
Qualifications
Clear Criminal Record Check required.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience working with individuals facing mental health challenges, complex barriers, or behavioral needs.
Valid driver's license, reliable insured vehicle, and willingness to transport clients when required.
Knowledge of ethical counselling practices, confidentiality protocols, and life skills coaching techniques.
Comfortable working independently in community-based settings.
Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Office, email, documentation).
Familiarity with local community resources and the employment and housing landscape.
Education & Experience
Certificate, diploma, or degree in a related field or a minimum of 2 years' experience working with vulnerable populations.
A combination of education, training, and lived/professional experience will be considered.
