Position Overview
The

Community Support Navigator

plays a key role in helping women access the right supports, reduce barriers, and move forward with confidence. This position bridges client services, volunteer engagement, and student supervision to ensure seamless care and connection throughout our programs.

This is a

part-time

12-month contract position

(

24-30 hours per week

) with the possibility of becoming permanent. The successful candidate will join a compassionate, dynamic, and collaborative team that values initiative, professionalism, and shared responsibility. Depending on the final program structure, this role may include supervision of Master of Social Work (MSW) or Psychotherapy students completing placement hours.

Key Responsibilities

Client & Community Support (approx. 40%)



? Provide one-on-one navigation and resource support for women with complex needs, including housing, legal aid, mental health, and employment.

? Offer one-on-one counselling on a case by case basis

? Support clients in setting achievable goals and building confidence in navigating community systems.

? Conduct referrals and "warm handoffs" to internal and external services.

? Maintain accurate case documentation and follow-up records using secure data systems.

Volunteer Mentorship (approx. 30%)



? Mentor and support peer support volunteers through ongoing communication and check-ins.

? Participate in quarterly volunteer training sessions to strengthen skills and confidence.

? Help establish consistency across service delivery by contributing to volunteer resources and procedural tools.

Student Supervision (approx. 20%)



? (If applicable) Supervise MSW/CRPO students completing placement requirements (approx. 900-1000 direct client contact hours).

? Provide mentorship, debriefing, and performance feedback.

? Model trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and ethical practice.

Systems & Reporting (approx. 10%)



? Support data collection and reporting for grant and program outcomes.

? Contribute to the development of improved systems for intake, referrals, and tracking.

? Collaborate with the Executive Director and Senior Program Manager to identify opportunities for service improvement.

Qualifications & Experience

?

Master of Social Work (MSW) and current registration with OCSWSSW (required).



?

2-5 years of experience in counselling, case management, or community service navigation.



? Experience supervising students, interns, or junior staff (an asset).

? Understanding of Ontario's social, legal, and health systems impacting women.

? Knowledge of community resources in Halton Region.

? Demonstrated trauma-informed and equity-driven practice.

? Strong communication, facilitation, and documentation skills.

? Experience with client management systems (e.g., Jane)

? Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; openness to learning new tools.

? Additional language skills (Mandarin, Arabic, Urdu, or Farsi) are preferred but not required.

NOTE: the successful candidate will be required to provide a recent Vulnerable Sector Check prior to employment.

Working Conditions

Start Date: January 5, 2026



? Mandatory Training:

January 5-10 2026

: Training in Mental Health First Aid (2-day); Non-Violent Intervention Crisis (2-day); and, ASIST (2-day).

Hours

: 24-30 hours per week based on experience. (With the possibility of full time as soon as April 15, 2026 based upon funding).

Work Schedule

: Hybrid work schedule; in-person on Mondays (Noon-2 PM) for all-staff meetings.

?

Compensation

: $50,000 annually.

?

Contract Type

: Part-time, 12-month temporary contract with potential to become permanent (January - December 2026).

?

Vacation

: 4% vacation pay (6% if hired as Manager).

?

Probationary Period

: 3 months.
