We are seeking a Community Services Coordinator for the
Fort McKay Metis Nation!
The Opportunity:
Fort McKay Metis Nation is looking for a reliable and community-focused individual to join our Community Services team as a Community Services Coordinator. This role supports a wide range of programs and services that promote the well-being of our members, including events, elder and youth engagement, and community center operations.
The Role:
Reporting to the Manager, Community Services, this position is responsible for maintaining the Fort McKay Community Center, assisting in the planning and delivery of community programs, and supporting initiatives for Elders, youth, and families. This is a part-time, hourly position to start, with the potential to become full-time based on community needs and funding.
Key Responsibilities:
Community Center Coordination:
Provide cleaning and light maintenance of the Fort McKay Community Center.
Manage bookings and support day-to-day operations of the facility.
Program & Event Support:
Assist the Community Services team in the planning and execution of community events, cultural programming, and initiatives for Elders and youth.
Transportation support for members as required by the Manager.
Community Engagement:
Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment for all community members.
Build relationships and work collaboratively with various age groups and backgrounds.
Administrative & Operational Support:
Perform basic administrative tasks and assist with logistical coordination for programs.
Maintain clear and accurate communication with the Community Services team.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education & Experience
Previous relevant experience considered an asset.
Experience working in an Indigenous community.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of Indigenous cultures and traditions.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Excellent communication, facilitation, and organizational skills.
Ability to build trust and work respectfully with individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
Additional Requirements:
Must possess a valid Class 5 driver's license and be willing to travel within the community and region as needed.
A criminal record check (including vulnerable sector screening) is required.
Schedule:
Part-time hours to start; flexible based on programming needs.
Potential to transition into full-time hours based on performance and operational requirements.
Position Type:
Part time, must be available and willing to work evenings and weekends.
