WorkLink Employment Society is recruiting a Community Resource Centre Specialist to join our team. This is a 1-year contract starting in mid-October. The successful candidate will work 21 hours per week (Wednesday and Thursday in the Sooke office, Fridays in the Langford office).
Wage:
$30.04, increasing to 30.62/hr after 4 months
About The Society:
WorkLink has provided government-sponsored employment services to the residents of the Victoria Capital Region's Westshore (Colwood, Langford, Highlands, View Royal and Metchosin) since 1978. In 2008, our services expanded to include the communities of Sooke and surrounding areas including Jordan River and Port Renfrew. We are also pleased to provide Indigenous outreach services to the First Nations Communities of Beecher Bay, T'Souke and Pacheedaht. Our non-profit organization is funded through both federal and provincial government initiatives. WorkLink is a registered charity in the Province of BC, which is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors chosen from leaders in the community.

About The Position:
A key member of the client services team, the Community Resource Centre Specialist performs a high volume of administrative tasks to support clients accessing who access our services. The first point of contact for clients and visitors, the Resource Specialist ensures that high-quality service is provided in our reception area and resource room.
Key Duties:
Welcome and direct visitors and clients to the appropriate staff member.
Operate the switchboard in a professional manner, forwarding calls and taking and delivering messages as required.
Maintain an organized resource area that includes tea and coffee, internet access, labour market information, job search resources, job listings, and other useful tools.
Assist clients with registration to WorkBC Employment Services and use databases to process applications.
Provide administrative support during the client intake process, including data entry, scanning, and filing.
Assist with the scheduling of client appointments.
Provide basic support to self-serve clients with job search strategies and resume writing.
Maintain informational resources for clients including details for community agencies, employment assistance services, educational institutions, and training providers.
Support self-serve clients by identifying and sharing suitable career development resources.
Collaborate with the team to answer client questions and resolve service issues both in person and virtually.
Assist with preparation for onsite staff events including workshops and meetings.
Coordinate rental bookings for the Sooke office.
Other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or designate.
What We're Looking For:
At least 1 year of administrative experience in a customer-facing office setting
Proven experience assisting clients in navigating and understanding detailed information
Experience working with individuals that have barriers to success
Able to interact clearly with clients, vendors and employees using active listening skills and professional verbal and written communication skills
High proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
Highly organized with the ability to maintain accurate, structured records
Comfortable working with large amounts of data
Able to identify priorities and meet deadlines using excellent time management skills
Solid understanding of job search strategies and cover letter/resume writing best practices
Ability to identify suitable career development resources based on client requests
Proven ability to successfully work in a dynamic team environment using proactive communication
Able to blend patience and empathy with an ability to maintain boundaries and de-escalate complaints
High level of integrity and a commitment to upholding confidentiality of private or sensitive information
Post-Secondary education in the Social Service sector preferred
Knowledge of Integrated Case Management (ICM) software an asset
The selected candidate will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
