Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre is recruiting for a new role of Communications and Resource Development Coordinator. This is a 12-month renewable contract.
The Communications and Resource Development Coordinator is responsible for leading the communications and resource development initiatives across the organization. They will be instrumental in shaping the organization's visibility and public image, enhancing stakeholder engagement, and advancing WOCRC's mission through creating and implementing communications and resource development strategies in alignment with the organization's strategic plan.
The key responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
External Communications Activities
Developing an annual communications plan to improve the center's visibility in the community.
Leading engagement in external events in public relations and promote awareness of the impact of WOCRC programs and services.
Develops, writes, proofreads and/or edits a variety of media content
Internal Communication Activities
Leading the development of strategies to support internal communications across the Centre
Leading the development of internal communications, key messages and speaking points for Management, and may act as a designate, speaking on behalf of the Employer
Strategically advises management in a confidential capacity about communications relating to labour relations
Resource Development Activities:
Developing and executing fundraising strategies to meet revenue targets and organizational goals with support of management and the Board fundraising committee
Leading internal fundraising project working groups including planning, organizing, and executing fundraising events and activities on behalf of the employer.
Writing compelling grant proposals, sponsorship packages, and fundraising appeals
Researching and identifying potential funding sources, grants, and sponsorship opportunities.
The successful candidate will meet the following Education and Experience minimum requirements:
Bachelor's degree from a recognized university in a relevant discipline or equivalent combination of some post-secondary education and relevant work experience. Key areas include communications, public relations, resource development or other relevant discipline.
2-4 years of professional experience with organizational communications.
1-2 years of professional experience coordinating and leading collaborative working groups; coordinating events; communications; fundraising and donor stewardship; as well as working with volunteers.
Experience and a professional focus in both official languages with writing, public relations; developing online and print corporate communications.
Experience liaising with community groups and associations preferred
Experience and interest in working with marginalized and diverse clientele, such as low-income, high-needs, newcomer, and a variety of multicultural communities.
Experience in a non-profit, community-based organization preferred
Experience developing communications within a unionized environment preferred
Knowledge of grant and proposal writing as part of fundraising efforts.
Knowledge and understanding of community resources and community-based health care preferred
Ability to communicate fluently in English, spoken and written.
Ability to communicate fluently in French, spoken and written
Fluency in another language relevant to our client population is an asset.
Availability to work evenings and weekends if required.

Responsabilites principales
Communications externes
Elaborer et mettre en oeuvre un plan de communication annuel pour accroitre la notoriete du CRCOO.
Representer le Centre lors d'evenements publics et promouvoir l'impact de ses programmes et services.
Rediger, reviser et adapter divers contenus destines aux medias traditionnels et numeriques.
Communications internes
Concevoir des strategies de communication interne favorisant la cohesion et l'engagement du personnel.
Rediger des messages cles, des allocutions et du contenu pour la direction; agir a titre de porte-parole au besoin.
Offrir des conseils strategiques confidentiels a la direction sur les enjeux de communication lies aux relations de travail.
Developpement des ressources
Concevoir et mettre en oeuvre des strategies de collecte de fonds pour atteindre les objectifs financiers du Centre.
Coordonner les activites de financement, incluant la planification et l'organisation d'evenements.
Rediger des propositions de subventions, des demandes de commandite et des appels de fonds convaincants.
Identifier de nouvelles sources de financement, subventions et partenariats potentiels.
Profil recherche
Formation et experience
Diplome universitaire dans un domaine pertinent (communications, relations publiques, developpement des ressources) ou combinaison equivalente d'etudes et d'experience.
2 a 4 ans d'experience en communication organisationnelle.
1 a 2 ans d'experience en coordination de projets, collecte de fonds, gestion de benevoles ou organisation d'evenements.
Competences
Excellente maitrise du francais et de l'anglais, a l'oral comme a l'ecrit.
Competences demontrees en redaction, relations publiques et developpement de contenu (imprime et numerique).
Experience souhaitee dans un organisme communautaire, en milieu syndique et/ou aupres de populations marginalisees.
Connaissance des ressources communautaires et du secteur de la sante communautaire (atout).
Maitrise d'une langue tierce parlee par la clientele du CRCOO (atout).
Disponibilite occasionnelle en soiree et fin de semaine.
